*Upload handouts, Flash materials, presentations, MP3, etc for
students to use
The site also
includes:
*Questions for
the 3000 most frequently used words broken into 5 bands for
students to practice OR be tested with.
*Dozens of
timed reading activities written in HotPotatoes, which can also
be graded
*Dozens of
listening activities using MP3s and CLOZE
*Dozens of
ready made handouts
* The ability
to add your own content to your classes. These materials can be
shared or held privately for your class
The real reason
I am inviting you to the site is to conduct research on SLA; I
don't really care if you are interested in vocabulary
acquisition using Wordchamp or Flashcard Exchange, or if youare
curious about the effectiveness of web-based word processors
like GoogleDocs or Zoho. I would like to invite you to post
your classes here and work together with me or anyone else on
the site to conduct research. There are many possibilities here
for research and publication. The site provides an excellent
structure to share materials, store research data, and
collaborate with others while we investigate the impact of
technology on language acquisition and language
teaching.
I am personally
interested in studying a number of things this year.
*First, I would
like to study the impact web-based writing has students
abilities to master the academic essay.
*Second, I am
interested in seeing the benefits to vocabulary acquisition by
using a CMS or other web-tool in comparison to the more
traditional paper and electronic dictionary versions.
*Third, I
developed a series of diagnostic tests and would like to
investigate the their impact on grammar mastery.
With a CMS
platform, we can research many different things, and we can
help each other as we conduct research. So I want to encourage
you to add your classes to the site. This is an opportunity to
test a Moodle site out and use it for research. Even if you are
not interested in conducting research, Moodle makes attendance
and gradding much easier than the traditional means. Also, if
you put your class up at ituzi.net, you may be able to offer
your classes to others who would like to conduct research with
the site.
I run the site,
but all the data you and your students create are yours: I am
claiming no rights to anything you create. I would appreciate
it if any materials you do create were made available to me,
but that is your choice. And I would enjoy working with you on
research projects, but if you have a partner, or wish to work
alone, that is fine with me. I am venturing into collaborative
research platforms for the first time and will enjoy the
experience regardless.
So if you are
interested, please contact me, we can talk via email or via
Skype (fltuzi). I hope to hear from you
